The
night before the taking of Lyon by the forces of the Convention on October
9th 1793, a part of the insurgent made a sortie by the porte de Vaise.
After a calamitous journey across the Lyonnais and the Beaujolais, the
last fugitives were caught and cut in pieces at the Mont Popey.

Those
events have so strongly affected people's mind around the village of Theizé,
that, two centuries later, they still arouse rumours and polemics.
The
autor has gathered and analysed those rumours before confronting them
to the events of October 1793, the history of which he reconstructed using
contemporary sources.
